Support Cadence: Facing Her Third Heart Surgery
Donation protected
This is Cadence, and she is a four year old precocious girl. And she has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.
Simply, it means half of her heart (the left half) didn't develop. Ever. And there is no cure. She was diagnosed at my 21-week ultrasound, was born with no complications, had her first open-heart surgery at 7 days old, and a second one at 7 months old. These surgeries are considered palliative. She operates on lower oxygen levels, is frequently bluish and requires careful monitoring.
She has had dozens of doctor appointments, tests, blood draws, and all kinds of medications that we had printouts scattered around our house. HLHS requires a 3-step repair, and we are coming up on that third, hopefully last, surgery: The Fontan. We are booked for June 16th!
Thankfully, we have good insurance and have already met most of the maximum out-of-pocket. Otherwise, a surgery like this would be hundreds of thousands. There's about $3k left after her earlier semi-annual EKG/Echo and pre-Fontan MRI. We'd appreciate any little bit to help towards that deductible. Anything over that would go towards the gas costs of to and from the hospital/doctor's appointments, food while inpatient, and follow-up medications.
Thank you!
