Support Byron Perez After Devastating Fire and Surgeries

Byron Perez is a coworker to many of us as well as a father, grandfather and dear friend. He works two jobs, at two companies, Steeplejack on Broadway and Rolling Fresh. He works as a server at Rolling Fresh and is one of our kitchen managers at Steeplejack.

Friday morning, July 11th at around 6am, Byron's apartment complex was lit on fire. His roommate woke him up to warn him and they quickly tried to leave the apartment. They opened their door and flames immediately rushed into their home, leaving no option for their escape besides jumping from the second story. They both jumped and sustained injuries.

Prior to this devasting fire, Byron was about to have his 4th major surgery, previously scheduled on the 14th of July. We hope that he is still able to have surgery after sustaining injuries from jumping out his burning building. He has struggled with ongoing health issues and surgeries for the last couple of years.

As a friend and coworker, I have to do anything I can to help him. He is an amazingly kind and considerate human, has no extended family in the US, is so fucking deserving, and I will do anything to make sure he doesn't suffer immense financial burden.

Now more than ever, it is so majorly important to look after one another.
