Help Our Fourth Graders Experience the Marin Headlands!
Hi, my name is Whitney, and I am a fourth grade teacher at Buena Vista Horace Mann in San Francisco’s Mission District (although we're temporarily in the Excelsior). Along with one other fourth grade teacher, we are raising funds to take our fifty students students on a multi-day overnight outdoor learning adventure to the awe-inspiring Marin Headlands.
The largest single expense for this trip is accommodations and activities at the NatureBridge Golden Gate program, where trained educators will guide our students through hands-on science and environmental exploration.
For many of our students, this will be their very first time spending a night away from home and experiencing the natural world beyond the city. At NatureBridge, they will:
Study marine science, plants, animals, and watersheds
Explore Rodeo Beach and hike the trails of the Marin Headlands
Challenge themselves physically and build confidence
Strengthen teamwork, independence, and social-emotional growth
This experience is so much more than a field trip—it’s an opportunity for our students to grow academically, socially, and personally. They’ll return with science knowledge, stronger critical thinking skills, and stories to share with their families and community. Most importantly, they’ll discover a caring relationship with nature and begin to see themselves as environmental stewards.
The cost of this adventure is significant, and we want to ensure no child is left behind because of financial barriers. Every donation will go directly toward covering program fees, lodging, meals, and transportation for our 50 scholars.
✨ How you can help:
Donate to make this trip possible for all students
Share this fundraiser with your network to spread the word
Thank you for helping our students step outside their everyday environment and into an unforgettable outdoor learning adventure. Together, we can spark a lifelong love of nature, science, and exploration.
