Help Us Support Our Dad, Butch, in His Fight Against ALS & Colon Cancer Our dad, Keith “Butch” Hudson, has always been a man of strength, hard work, and quiet love. He’s the kind of person who shows up — for his family, his friends, and anyone in need. Today, we are asking for help as we continue to show up for him. In August, Dad was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), a devastating and currently incurable disease. Since that diagnosis, his condition has progressed more quickly than we could have imagined. He is now no longer able to speak and will most likely require the use of a power wheelchair as his mobility continues to decline. On New Year’s Eve, our family was hit with another unexpected and overwhelming diagnosis. Despite having a clear colonoscopy just six months earlier, Dad was diagnosed with colon cancer after doctors discovered a grapefruit-sized tumor in his colon. He underwent surgery to remove the cancer. While Dad is incredibly strong, his lungs were not strong enough to fully bounce back after surgery. As a result, he now has a tracheostomy and continues to heal little by little each day following an extended hospital stay. Looking ahead, it appears that Dad will need to spend time in a long-term care facility as part of his recovery and ongoing care. While some of the future details are still uncertain, what is very clear is that the medical bills are mounting quickly. Throughout all of this, his wife, Susan, has not left his side — advocating for him, supporting him, and loving him tirelessly every single day. Our family is doing everything we can to ensure Dad receives the best care possible, with dignity, comfort, and love.
