Wardell (Butch) Hill is a vital member of our community and a loved husband, father, and grandfather. Butch “BH” has a heart disease called cardiomyopathy that has been managed for over two decades with medication and other treatments. However, he is now in end stage heart failure and needed additional support. He had surgery on October 2nd to have a LVAD (left ventricular assist device) implanted. BH has already been at Cleveland Clinic since September 24th with his family.
His recovery is going well, but he will continue to stay in Cleveland for a few more weeks.
His wife, Amy, and youngest son, Julian, are staying at the Transplant House and will continue to do so while BH recovers. While they are close by to learn how to care for him, they do not have an income at this time and have not for several weeks.
After he is able to leave the clinic, they will continue to come to Cleveland from Charleston weekly for a few months, then visits will drop to monthly.
If you have it in your hearts to do so, please consider donating to BH and his family for their expenses while being in Cleveland. These donations will cover expenses such as those related to his medical bills and housing.
