Support BUSTED - A New Comedy Short Film by Amanda Ward
Hi, I’m Amanda Ward, an independent filmmaker based in Los Angeles. I moved here during the pandemic with big dreams, and since then, I’ve been working hard to make them come true. In 2023/2024, I produced my very first short film, WISH I WOULD’VE SAID SOMETHING—a slice-of-life, coming-of-age drama that has garnered recognition and honorable mentions at festivals like Blackbird Film Festival and Hollywood Shorts Fest.
Through this first project, I learned the ropes of filmmaking—completing SAG-AFTRA paperwork, securing my first LA film permit—and making a $5k budget stretch to generate $40k worth of production value. It was a wild ride filled with challenges, mistakes, and incredible lessons. Now, I’m diving into my second short film, BUSTED.
BUSTED follows the hilarious story of two rookie cops, Officer Wise and Officer Grace, as they navigate their first day on the job. Think athletic, eager but not-so-bright Officer Wise paired with the brilliant, type-A, and hilariously clumsy Officer Grace—shenanigans are guaranteed. We’ve got a great concept that has the potential to turn into a full-fledged series, and I’m excited to bring it to life!
We’re reaching out to you for support to help us cover some essential costs:
What We Need: $1,782 Total
Why?
- $80 – 3 large pizzas + water bottles + delivery fee from Domino’s for our 8-person cast and crew
- $1,352 – FilmLA permit (we don’t want to get ACTUALLY busted for not having the proper permit!)
- $350 – Cop car and uniform rental for our one-day shoot
We’re not trying to make money off of this—we’re just a group of broke creatives hoping to get better at our craft and share a hilarious story with the world. Your support will help us create something truly special, and we can’t do it without you.
Thank you for your consideration and support!
