Support business owner Rick Andrews & lost Burton Business

Hi, my name is Megan Andrews, daughter of the most hardworking, caring, and generous person there could be, Rick Andrews.

On February 4th, 2025, we went through the most devastating experience that our family could've fathomed. The business that my father has built from the ground up for the last 30 years burnt to the ground. Andrews Upholstery. For everyone who knows my dad, they know exactly the person he is and know this business was everything to him—his entire livelihood, his second home, and most importantly, this business provided for our family. Not only did it provide for our family, but two other important people in our lives lost their jobs, including a great man who has worked with my dad for 14 years and has been in our family almost his entire life. We are asking for help in this difficult time because he has no income, the building was very old and was uninsurable. We have no materials, tools or anything to start over with, everything was at that shop. My dad kept all paper work, business cards, contacts etc in that building and it’s all gone. He is starting from scratch at the age of 67.

If you asked my dad what he loves most in the world, no doubt he would say family, and family to him means more than just blood. My dad was blessed with three wonderful children, but he has way more people who call him Dad. Starting when he was younger, he realized he just loved helping people and was in the Big Brother program. Then, when he had his own kids, all of our friends turned into his kids; he even adopted my best friend. He helped change so many people's lives. While going through this tragedy, we are so grateful to have all this love and support, and you realize how big of an impact this single man has made on so many people and the community.

So many people have reached out to ask how they could help. Any donation will help. In the fire, we lost everything; nothing was salvageable. This was 30 years of stuff that cannot be replaced—materials, sewing machines, saws, tools, and just so many memories.

My dad is the real American dream. He started a business with his own hands, doing what he knew he could do best: hard work. My dad grew up not being great at school due to disabilities but loved making anything with his hands. That's where the passion started. Many people don't know how labor-intensive doing upholstery work is and how great of a craft it is as well. My dad is 67 and does everything old-fashioned. I think it's amazing that all the work he's done and the business he gets is all from word of mouth—no website, no advertising, nothing like that. I think that alone speaks volumes of his character and that we were provided with 30 years of business due to his integrity and generosity. While my dad went to work every day and worked his butt off, he always made sure to be home at 5 pm for his kids and was the best dad anyone could ask for.

This time is very hard for us, and we are very appreciative of all the love and support that we have received and will continue to receive. Anything is appreciated while we navigate how to move forward ❤️
