I'm Cindy Reynolds, the wife of Special Operations radio expert Arthur "Burt" Reynolds. Together we've raised our 4 boys and 1 girl. Art, or "Burt," served for 14 years, with the majority of that time being with 1/160th SOAR. Over the years (married since 1998), we've lived through many medical situations in which most people do not survive. Art had always bounced back so quickly following his brain aneurysm, neck fusion surgery, and triple bypass surgery during the middle of COVID. This time, this chronic stomach condition to which we can find no cause nor any treatment that is making any significant improvement. Art last worked full-time in January 2024 and worked limited hours and minor activity from February 2025 to June 2025. At that time, he added pneumonia to the mix and just has not gotten his strength back at all. We were able to survive on the State of California short-term disability and then lived off of his 401K. All of that has now been depleted. We got behind on our rent because my only income was being an on-site manager where we lived and worked 10 hours a week and a discount on our rent. The only income we had besides mine was his 40% disability with the VA. On the 17th of February, I was informed that I would be terminated from my job as of March 13, 2026, and we would need to be moved out of the premises by March 24, 2026. We did have a veteran organization that was about to cut a check for our past due rent, but the company decided to fire me before they sent the check. We have applied for Social Security disability and early retirement for Art and unemployment for myself. We are also trying to get his VA award up to 70% or even 100%. Art can do personal hygiene, but other than that, he is bedridden because of his massive lack of stamina. Because of the financial struggles, we do not have good credit nor will we have a good rental history to apply somewhere else because of being behind on the rent. We would not qualify for any kind of loan either. I have found several manufactured homes that are less than $300,000 in which we could live and only have to pay to rent the space and any HOA, utilities, etc. All of our children are grown and are living on their own (including our oldest that we lost unexpectedly 2 years ago). I have many physical and mobility issues myself that make working very limiting with me trying to complete all of the necessary paperwork for all of these places that can help. It just all takes so long! I just need the money to provide a comfortable spot for my husband of 28 years, our dog, our cat, and myself. We love to attend church and to go fishing but have been unable to do either activity for almost a year now.
