Around 9am on January 6th 2017 at Phelps Cast Foundry one of the furnaces exploded badly burning Kenny Martinez. He was air lifted to UW Health University Hospital in Madison. The explosion caused third degree burns on 30% of his body. He was wearing a helmet and a face mask at the time but the explosion blew it off of his face. The furnace reaches over 2,300 degrees and is used to heat metals. He is stable but has a long painful road to recovery. He is 31 years old and has a three year old daughter.
