Support Bunk's Journey to Full Recovery
Donation protected
We’re reaching out to ask for support for our beloved Bunk (PaPa), as he begins what we hope will be a full recovery following a series of serious medical events. On June 13th, Bunk suffered a massive stroke. During his 11-day hospital stay, he also experienced a heart attack and multiple seizures, which ultimately led to him being sedated and intubated for several days. The effects have been life-altering—and for the time being, Bunk is unable to work or drive, with doctors advising at least six months of rest and recovery ahead.
This is all happening on the heels of an incredibly difficult year. In May of 2024, Bunk lost his wife and soulmate, and our beloved mother, Kathryn—very suddenly to cardiac arrest. Her passing left not only an emotional hole but also a significant financial and caregiving burden. Bunk has taken on the full weight of household bills and responsibilities.
Despite how serious his condition was, Bunk’s recovery so far has been nothing short of extraordinary. By the grace of God, his doctors believe he can make a full recovery—something that is extremely rare for patients who experience massive strokes. Incredibly, after 11 days in the hospital, Bunk was able to walk out on his own, unassisted.
We’re so grateful for this progress, but we know the road ahead still requires patience, time, and healing. To get back to full strength, Bunk will need to dedicate himself to physical therapy, rest, and consistent follow-up care. And to do that, he needs a financial support system in place that allows him to focus on his health.
If you know Bunk, you know he’s one of the most hardworking, generous and selfless people you’ll ever meet. He consistently shows up for others—never asking for anything in return. But now it’s time for us give back to Bunk and support him in his time of need.
We’re raising funds to help cover six months of essential household expenses that aren’t covered by his short-term disability. Your support will help with:
• Mortgage payments
• Electricity, gas, internet and phone bills
• Groceries and everyday necessities, like toiletries and household supplies
• Out-of-pocket medical expenses
• Transportation to and from physical therapy and doctor appointments
Most importantly, your support gives Bunk the space he needs to heal, recover, and hopefully enjoy many more healthy years with his family—including his grandkids, who mean the world to him.
We’ll be posting monthly updates to keep everyone informed on Bunk’s progress and how your generosity is making a difference. Every donation makes a real impact, and we are so grateful for your kindness, prayers, and support.
Thank you for helping us lift Bunk up during this difficult time. It truly means more than words can express.
Love,
