Dear Supporter,
I am Bobbie Thompson, and I am writing on behalf of Building Recovery Communities Coalition (BRCC) to ask for your support in raising $200,000 to acquire our first women’s recovery housing facility in Southern Illinois.
This home will provide safe, sober, supportive housing for women transitioning from detox or participating in Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT), with room for 4 to 5 residents in the first year, along with meals, recovery support, and a stable environment designed to help them rebuild their lives.
Women in our area often complete detox without having a safe place to continue their recovery. With limited detox days and few gender-responsive housing options, many are forced to return to unstable environments that can undermine the progress they have worked hard to achieve.
Our proposed residence will address this gap by offering structured, recovery-focused housing and supportive services that promote safety, stability, and long-term progress for women at a critical point in their recovery journey.
Building Recovery Communities Coalition (BRCC), serves women overcoming addiction and mental health challenges through supervised sober housing and holistic support, including peer engagement, recovery education, life-skills development, case management, employment readiness, and structured daily support. We work alongside courts and community partners to help adults with serious mental illness and substance use challenges move toward healthier, more stable lives.
We are prepared to move this project forward. The land is already equipped with electricity, gas, city water, and a concrete slab, reducing startup costs and allowing donor support to go directly toward acquiring the housing structure and opening the residence as quickly as possible.

As described on our website, BRCC is a 501(c)(3) organization and donations are tax-deductible; donation receipts are available for contributions. We are also grateful to recognize supporters on our “Wall of Donors”, in our new facility, and donors will be invited to our ribbon-cutting celebration as a sign of our appreciation.
We know there are many worthy needs in our communities, and we would be honored to have your support. A gift of any amount will help create a safe place where women can continue recovery, strengthen their health, and build a more stable future for themselves and their families.
Your planted seed can help open the door to safety, recovery, and renewed hope for women in Southern Illinois. Thank you for considering a contribution to this important effort. To donate or learn more, please visit https://www.buildingcoalition.org.
