Roy El Khoury, a vibrant and athletic young man, made a lasting impact with his warm and friendly personality. Diagnosed with cancer in summer of 2021, Roy showed incredible strength during his six-month battle, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew him. In his memory, "Roy's Project" charitable foundation was created by his family and friends.
Going beyond a tribute, Roy’s Project is planning to build "Roy's Room", Lebanon's first Music Therapy room for cancer patients at Notre Dame Des Secours Hospital Byblos, Lebanon. Music and art therapy has been shown to improve communication, reduce feelings of isolation, and lead to increases in self-esteem, confidence, and self-awareness for cancer patients.
The construction of Roy’s Room will start in February and is expected to be completed by May of 2024. The room’s construction cost is about $32,093 from which Roy’s Project foundation has raised about half of the amount so far. This fundraising campaign goal is to raise $15,000 by February 18, 2024. The raised funds will be shared with the foundation to complete the construction of Roy’s Room.
Roy's Room symbolizes love, compassion, and hope, reflecting Roy's legacy and the commitment to positively impact the well-being of cancer patients in Lebanon.
