My husband and I met Bug on one of our many trips to Negril after admiring his hand painted signs all over town. After meeting we became fast friends and always look forward to seeing him whenever we make our way back to the island. He is a salt of the earth kind of guy, always curious and down for a meaningful conversation. He spends time with our friend’s kids, paints with them, and ALWAYS asks about them when we speak. He’s a real one.
His family is safe. His business is not.
Bug is a sign painter and artist in Savanna la Mar, Jamaica - the town that took a direct hit from Hurricane Melissa, the strongest storm in Jamaica’s history.
185 mph winds devastated western Jamaica on October 28th. Sav is described as totally destroyed. 77% of Jamaica still has no power.
Bug creates beautiful hand-painted signs for local businesses. He’s a dad who’s always provided for his family through his craft. The reality is that his tools and equipment are damaged or lost, there is no electricity, no materials, and no way to work. Work is non existent through no fault of his own.
Donating will help feed his family during recovery and replace lost tools and equipment. Any amount will help bridge the gap until he can work again and rebuild what was lost.
This is going to be a long recovery. Bug needs help NOW to survive the months ahead before he can get back to painting and providing for his family.
