On Tuesday 3/17 early morning Buddy was attacked by a coyote while coming up the stairs to the house. He was rushed into a hospital in Pasadena, after looking at his wounds we were told he needed specialized care. So we quickly went over to VCA ASG. The team worked quickly to help stabilize him. Buddy had deep punctures around his neck and trauma to his chest which caused trouble breathing. When our doctor came to talk to us she said there was fluid and air in his chest that they need to quickly remove. There was a possibility of a tear in his lung and the air kept building up quickly.
With Buddy’s injuries he had less than 50% survival rate but we needed to give him a chance. Buddy stayed in the hospital and got CT imaging to rule out a lung tear a blood transfusion from internal bleeding and stayed in the ICU oxygen cage.
Each day Buddy fought to get back home and on Thursday 3/19 he made it back to us.
As incredible as his story is, it does come with a cost, our final bill was $11,000. Any help is appreciated we are thankful for the amazing care he received.
