Support Buddy Horton's Heart Surgery Recovery

My name is Annah, as many of you know, Buddy Horton’s daughter.
I a starting this to help reduce the stress as much as I can, during this incredibly stressful and life-altering event.

On February 13th around 6AM, Benji (his son) took him to the ER for chest pains.
A heart catheterization was performed and showed 6-7 blocked arteries. Ranging from, 50%, 70%, 90% and (left coronary artery) 100%.
They immediately set up transfer to Norfolk General for a 3-4 way bypass.

Had my father not been in the 15% of people who’s left coronary artery is not dominant, he would not be here today.
The surgeon told him he is a very, very lucky man.

Buddy is a husband, a father of 3, a PopPop of 4 (with another on the way), and a very hardworking man. If you know him, he is not a man that sits still and yet, he has handled this past week in the hospital with such grace and patience.

As of today, February 21st, he still has not undergone surgery. We are hopeful it will be sometime next week and he can begin his road to recovery in his own home.
He is very missed by his grandchildren and his doggies.

With all of that being said, bills are still rolling in.
The mortgage, car payments, and we won’t even get started on this massive hospital bill they will receive in the near future.

My mom has been my Dad’s backbone through it all and I am confident that as a community, we can allow her to simply worry about helping my dad recover instead of worrying how bills are going to be paid.

Here is a note from my Mother: “I never thought I'd do this but here we are. I do not believe he will qualify for short term disability because his company is not required to have FMLA. I have no clue how all of this works. We have a mortgage to pay along with your normal household bills. Buddy can be out of work for 3 months. Hopefully only that long.
We were not prepared. I'm ashamed and it's my fault but we are definitely not in a position to make any ends meet without Buddy's income. I am at the very end of my 2.5 years of waiting for disability but it can still be another 6 months.
We do need help. I know most people do right now but if you feel you can help at all I'm sure it will help. And all I can say is God bless you and thank you.”
