Bubba has been my best friend for around 13 years now. We met in 1st grade and have been fast friends ever since. He has always been obsessed with LEGO, Marvel, Star Wars, DC, The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and more. He has always had a busy house since his mom, Mrs Melissa, was always fostering. They now have a family of 10, having their own three kids, and adopting five. Around 7th grade, Bubba moved 4 hours away, so we didn't see each other much, but we still made sure to visit one another. To this day, our little childhood friend group of four has stayed in contact, and even now have a realm open 24/7 to play Minecraft together. In middle school, he took band as an elective, and it just stuck ever since; he won multiple awards for playing everything brass. He was working at McDonald's to save up to join DCI, known as the "marching music's major league," to play nationally, and possibly internationally.

Pictured are a few photos of a section of his collection in his room, and a picture of him performing in band.

On October 25th, 2025, Jerry "Bubba" Elsberry suffered a traumatic brain injury from an accident messing around with friends as he was being dropped off at his little sister's 13th birthday party. He had to have emergency surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain. He has had his ups and downs with his 13-day ICU stay, but is currently (11/8) recovering inpatient in the PCU at HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital, who have done a wonderful job treating him. Bubba certainly had some scares in the hospital, but his outlook is looking better day by day. He isn't able to use his right hand as of yet, as he had a left brain injury, but he is able to stand up and walk with help, and can communicate. He has a long journey of recovery ahead of him, but Bubba's care team and his family are already planning out which rehab facility he will go to.

Pictured is an MRI scan of his skull, where it split open in a cross formation, where the skull fuses together when you are a baby, as well as a piece of his skull missing where they performed a craniectomy in his emergency surgery.

He has a vast group of friends from school, band and chorus in Florida now too, where they come visit him every day in the hospital. Overall, he has a wonderful support system with his mom, family, friends, and medical team.

Here's where the GoFundMe comes in. Bubba has always loved Lego, and without a doubt, a hobby that requires such fine motor skill would provide him with a rehabilitation project that he already enjoys. One of his dream Lego sets has been the new Lego Death Star. Only problem is.. The Lego Death Star set costs a solid $1,000. If we could get our resources together, and get him this set, we all know he would be ecstatic, not to mention it would be beneficial for him physically with his recovery process.

He has so many people who love and care about him, and given the time and distance some people are, this is one way you could help support him and his family. Any left-over funds from this fundraiser will go to his large 10-person family, where it will be used to help pay for medical bills, food, gas, etc, so don't be afraid to donate even if we've met the quota!

Thank you to all who have also made fundraisers for him and his family, and for all the prayers sent his way.
