**Our D.O.G.** Our Heartfelt Battle: Brynn's Journey with DCM and CHF**
**UPDATE**. We never ask for HELP but find ourselves facing a battle we were not expecting. Just got off the phone with UW Vet Hospital and there are some medications we can try to help prolong Brynn's Life and the fact that just one of them could help her is all we want. We are asking anyone who would like to help us FIGHT for Brynn to please Donate as we are not ready to let her go yet. Funds will help pay for Diagnostics and Medications
It’s with heavy hearts that we share some tough news about our beloved Doberman, Brynn aka Bean aka Pain in the Butt aka The Best Dog Ever. Today, she was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and congestive heart failure (CHF) at 7 years 9 months. This has been an incredibly difficult and emotional time for our family as we navigate through this new reality.
For those who may not know, DCM is a condition where the heart becomes enlarged and weakened, struggling to pump blood effectively. CHF is a serious complication of DCM, where fluid builds up in the lungs and other parts of the body due to the heart’s inability to function properly. Together, these conditions make each day a battle for our brave girl.
The signs were subtle at first she seemed a bit more tired than usual,a sporadic cough and we noticed some slight changes in her breathing. We chalked it up to allergies or maybe just a rough week, but as the symptoms persisted, we knew something was wrong. After a visit to the emergency vet today, countless tests, and a whirlwind of emotions, we received the diagnosis that no pet parent ever wants to hear.
Since 10 hrs ago our lives have changed in ways we couldn’t have imagined. Every day will be a new challenge as we work to manage her condition with medication, dietary changes, and lots of love. We’re learning to adapt to her new limitations providing comfort and care while trying to keep our spirits up for her.
It’s heartbreaking to see such a strong and loyal companion face this struggle. Brynn has always been the heart and soul of our home, she has provided me (Sarah) with so much love and protection in my darkest hours that she is more than a dog she is my Guardian, always ready to protect, play, and love unconditionally. To my girls she has been a constant and a true companion, to Chris Adams she has become a pain in the ass but in the best way EVER! To see their bond is heartwarming and unconditional Watching her slow down, seeing the exhaustion in her eyes, and knowing that her heart is literally breaking has been one of the hardest things we’ve ever experienced.
Despite the difficulty, we’re not giving up. We’re committed to giving Brynn the best quality of life possible, making every moment count. We will be seeking advice from some of the best Veterinarians in the World at UW Madison Vet Hospital Cardiology Department. So....Whether it’s a gentle walk on a cool morning, a cozy nap together, or just sitting quietly by her side, we’re cherishing every second.
We know that many of you know and love Brynn her adventures over the years and that she holds a special place in your hearts too. We appreciate your thoughts, prayers, and support as we navigate this journey together. It means more to us than words can express.
Please keep Brynn in your thoughts as we continue to fight this battle. We hope for more good days than bad, and for the strength to give our sweet girl all the love and care she deserves. 8 years has not been enough and we will fight till we can't Bean
With love and gratitude,
