Brynlee's Story -
March 2nd began a series of events that would ultimately become the hardest thing Tyler and Mikayla have ever had to walk through as parents.
Multiple ER trips with a diagnosis of a "virus" , febrile seizures, and uncontrolled vomiting would all lead to the day Brynlee almost lost her life.
On March the 4th, for the 3rd time, Tyler and Mikayla took their baby girl back into the hospital because they knew something was not right.
After hours of her declining rapidly, the social worker asked if they had family they wanted to call in - it was that serious.
God worked through the doctors to finally find the cause - strep pneumo meningitis. A severe bacterial disease that invades the tissues surrounding the brain and spinal cord.
It is a miracle Brynlee is alive!
Brynlee was in the ICU for almost 3 weeks, and is now in a regular room while she completes her antibiotics. They expect to be there a couple more weeks, but her story doesn't end there.
Due to all of the infection and inflammation on her brain Brynlee suffered multiple seizures and strokes ultimately leading to brain damage. The extent of that is still unclear, she's undergoing CT's and MRI's multiple times a week.
She will need a cochlear implant in one ear, and a hearing aid for her other one.
Once she is released from the hospital she will be moved to an in patient rehab center to complete therapies that will help her get back to where she was before.
This means months out of work, traveling costs for family, medical bills, among other financial burdens.
Tyler and Mikayla have already been out of work for weeks, but with this new information looking like months out of work, they will need our help!
On top of Brynlee’s health concerns, they are also battling insurance. Upon arrival to the ER the first time, they found out Brynlee had been terminated on January 1 of this year from their BCBS insurance policy due to a technicality. It has been an ongoing battle to get her reinstated. As of today, the state of TN has denied reinstating her on the policy. They are working up an appeal to try to get that reversed.
Financial support is one of the most tangible ways you can help someone going through such a medical crisis.
They are so humbled, and grateful to each and every person that feels led to give!
They also ask for your prayers. Brynlee's been through so much but they know that God has brought her this far and He will continue to heal her. He hears our prayers. Pray for Brynlee to make a complete recovery, pray for Tyler, Mikayla, and their son Wesley as they continue going through this. And pray for God to give the doctors the wisdom and guidance on exactly what to do for Brynlee. We thank you all so much for your prayers, support, and love!
