Help Bryce Fight Cancer

Hi, my name is Melissa Hunt-Anderson and I am blessed to be Kate’s sister-in-law. Anyone who knows Kate and her husband, Bryan, know how much their family and their children mean to them - truly everything!

On Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, completely unexpectedly, their first born son, beautiful, blue-eyed-boy, Bryce (4yrs-old), was diagnosed with cancer. He had an extremely swollen face/throat that alerted doctors to do a CT scan which revealed a cancerous tumour growing in Bryce’s throat. Because of the high risk nature of the tumour in this throat, Bryce was medevacked from Vernon Jubilee Hospital to BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH).

Kate flew in the air ambulance with Bryce to BCCH, and Bryan drove down to Vancouver with their 10-month-old baby girl, Lily, to be with Kate and Bryce. Now, they will be staying at Ronald McDonald House for a minimum of 8-10 months while Bryce undergoes his lifesaving treatments.

Kate and Bryan are both extremely hard working parents, and have been working hard at renovating their home to create a third bedroom for their baby girl, Lily. Kate is currently working at a long-term, assisted-living facility, and Bryan is an electrician working for a locally-based electrical company. But neither are able to continue working consistently at their Vernon-based jobs while at BCCH caring for Bryce, as he undergoes his numerous treatments and operations.

To help out this beautiful, hardworking family, we’re looking for funds to support their monthly bills, flights and incidental costs of living away from home for the next 8-10 months. This support will help them keep on top of their household bill payments while they’re unable to work, caring for Bryce at BCCH.

We want Bryan and Kate to have this financial burden lifted from their shoulders, so that they can focus their energy on Bryce and his healing and recovery.
