My name is Martine Miljanich and I am the parent of a student at Bryant Elementary School in Long Beach, CA. Bryant is a wonderful school with amazing staff that does so much for students, families, and the community as a whole. I am part of a group of parents and teachers who want to support that work by forming a Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). The money raised through Go Fund Me will go towards formally incorporating our PTO as a business and then applying for the 501(c)(3) status that will allow us to operate as a nonprofit. The PTO will then be able to collaborate with families and school staff to support Bryant and all its students by putting on events, running fundraisers and advocating on behalf of Bryant’s students to ensure that our school remains a safe and inspiring educational environment for everyone.

The PTO launched in the 2024-2025 school year. We have successfully co-hosted 2 Fall Festivals in October 2024 and 2025, a Movie Night in May of 2025, and fundraisers throughout the two years such as “Valentine’s Day Grams” in February and “Gratitude Gram” bracelets in November. However, we need official nonprofit status to do more!

Nonprofit designation will allow us to take advantage of all the legal and financial incentives given to not-for-profit businesses and those who donate. Most importantly, it will ensure that the PTO will have a long-lasting presence in our community for years to come. We need all of you to get us to our fundraising goal so we can pay the registration costs and attorneys’ fees required to support us in applying for nonprofit status. We are hoping to raise the money during the holiday season, so that we can begin the process at the beginning of the new year in January 2026.
