Support Bryan Best's Recovery After Traumatic Brain Injury

Donation protected
On August 24th, 2024, my dad, Bryan Best, was attacked at a bar in Montana. He was knocked unconscious and hit his head on a concrete curb. The attacker then continued to beat my dad until my mom pulled him off. He landed on top of her, causing her to also hit her head. The man got up again and pulled out a knife. People around attempted to talk him down, but it made no difference, so yet again, my mom had to be the one to get in the middle and pry the knife straight out of the guy's hand. The blade cut my mother's fingers, but she was able to disarm him, get the knife to the bartenders, and call 911. The attacker continued screaming threats at my parents, and my dad was taken by ambulance to the hospital. My mom stayed to talk to the police before being able to join him.

My dad has a traumatic brain injury, temporal lobe fracture from the eye socket that extends into his ear, level 4 concussion and large brain contusion, a horrible black eye, bruising on his chest. He is in extreme pain from just the slightest movements and has yet to regain his hearing in that ear.

My mom also received a concussion, bruising on her face, scrapes on her back, and the cut across her fingers. Despite needing to heal herself, she has spent every moment since the attack taking care of my father both physically and emotionally, as well as handling the legal side of all of this.

My dad went back to the ER on August 30th for extreme pain, vomiting, chills, erratic heart rate, and involuntary head shaking. They told her the pain had increased to the point that it sent him into shock. They were able to give him some medication to help him rest more comfortably.

My mother is the sole caregiver for our family, and my father is the provider. In addition to everything she is dealing with after the attack, she has had to continue caring for the 4 kids still at home, 3 pets, and the household. At this point, we are unsure of how long this road to recovery will be and don't know how we will make it financially.

All donations will be used to support our family with basic needs (such as food, bills, gas, etc.) as well as help pay for the medical bills already accrued and as more come during this time of healing. The already long list includes the ambulance ride, 2 trips to the emergency room, multiple CT scans, medications, doctor fees, and other imaging/testing. He has been referred to the ENT specialists and will have that appointment in the next week or so.

This has been an extremely hard and traumatic week for the whole family. We are so thankful for all the support and prayers we have already received. We thank you in advance for any and all donations! Even the littlest bit helps. We will be updating you all as things progress. Thank you!
