My name is Bryan. I have an 11-year-old dog named Athena. She has been with me since she was 4 months old. She is my best friend and she goes everywhere with me. There was a fire where we were living on October 4, 2023, causing us to become homeless. I have stayed with family here and there while trying to get us back on our feet. We have been living in my truck for the last few months. I have been doing junk removal, leaf clean-ups, and snow removal for work. I have had to replace my trailer three times in the last year, and my truck was just replaced in July. Every time I feel like I am making progress forward, something comes up and drains my savings.
Athena is having health issues. In February, I had her in for surgery to remove tumors. One came back as cancerous. Now she is having issues again and needs to go in for surgery once more. She has lymph nodes that are swelling within her muscle tissue and nerves. It is possible they may need to amputate her front left leg. I am most concerned about where we will be living when she is recovering. It is hard to find pit bull-friendly housing, especially as a single man on just my income. It is hard for me to ask for help, but I had several people suggest that I start one of these to raise money. I have received so much love and support from my community; I can't thank you all enough. I am hoping to find a stable living environment for my dog. She deserves to be as comfortable as possible. I really appreciate anyone taking the time to read this.
