I was given a beautiful dog named Bruno. When I received him, I understood that he was emotionally shut down due to being in a breeder's kennel 23 hours a day his entire life.

Bruno had never been on a walk and had not been socialized. I knew I would be doing a tremendous amount of work to rehabilitate and nurture him out of his emotional shutdown state. It took several months, but Bruno did come out of his shell, and he is the sweetest dog ever. He is just like a sweetheart teddy bear.

I did not know, and was not told, that he had several birth defects that I would not be able to afford to fix.

It has taken several months to bring him to the point where he comes to me for nurturing and love and plays around like a happy little dog.

And then the worst happened when one of the birth defects, which is the eyelashes turned inwards, caused scratching in the eye which then turned into a very deep ulcer that needs surgery to repair. This is an emergency situation.

Without it, Bruno stands a good chance of losing his eye, but even that costs more than I have.

Right now, I am trying to just keep the situation from getting worse with about 60 different eye drops a day, and those vet bills are getting expensive. But for that to work, his eye would need to grow blood vessels to the wound and then heal it, and that has not happened.

I'm in a very tough situation as I love this dog very much.

His other problem that is not an emergency, and the reason why he is freed from a lifetime in a cage in somebody's garage 23 hours a day, is because he only had one testicle descend and he needs surgery to remove the other one from his abdomen, but that can wait.

The problem with the eye cannot wait, and at any minute, if it gets a little scratch or if it gets swollen and bursts, he could need an emergency eye removal, and I do not have the money for that either.

The price to actually get the eye fixed is not that much more than it would be to have his eye removed, although both are in the thousands.

Please help with anything you can because Bruno deserves love, and myself being a single parent of an only child that was murdered, actually this is like my baby already and I'm just so stressed out and in need of help.
