Bruin Formula Racing at UCLA (BFR) is a Formula SAE racing team dedicated to hands-on engineering education and innovation. Every year, our team designs, manufactures, tests, and races a formula-style car against teams from around the world in a competition organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). This event encourages the practical application of engineering principles taught in our classes, and provides students with invaluable experience in a high-stress, high-stakes environment that simulates the engineering industry.

Last year, thanks to the incredible support from donors, we competed in our third Electric Vehicle (EV) competition and surpassed our previous accomplishments. We successfully passed all 6 technical inspections, competed in all 4 dynamic events, finished the 22 km endurance race, and placed 26th out of 89 teams present - not bad for a third year EV team! Our leap into EV racing would not have been possible without the generosity of supporters like you.

Looking ahead to June 2027, our new car, Mk. XII, will race in the Electric Vehicle Formula SAE competition at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, MI. We are excited to bring all the energy and innovation from our last vehicle into Mk. XII. However, as a student organization, fundraising is always a challenge. BFR at UCLA aims to make high-quality engineering education accessible, so we do not charge any membership fees. A project of this scale requires immense financial resources, and we are grateful for the university funds, sponsors, and private donors who help make it possible. Your donations will go toward purchasing components and services to complete our vehicle, and help get our members to competition. Thank you for supporting Bruin Formula Racing at UCLA and helping us continue to inspire and empower future engineers.
