Bruce's Recovery After Losing His Leg to a Drunk Driver
Spende geschützt
** Update 8/30**
Bruce is about 3 weeks from being fitted for his prosthetic, his wound opened up after the staples were removed, and the incision opened up pretty significantly. Although happy to be home, hes unable to return to work indefinitely. I work as a waitress, but between business being slow and juggling pur 17 month old baby im just not making near enough.
**Update 7/23**
Bruce had a total of 3 surgeries, which has resulted in an amputation above the knee; as well as a plate having to be inserted into his femur bone all on the left side. He faces months of recovery before being able to be fitted for a prosthetic, but will be transported to inpatient rehab to regain some strength before coming home. The guy who hit him was caught and is currently in the Tangipahoa Parish Jail where he is being charged with felony hit and run as well as a 3rd offense DWI and several others. The person who hit Bruce has shown NO remorse or responsibility for his actions.
On July 19th, 2025, at around 10 pm, my fiancé Bruce was involved in a motorcycle accident. He was riding down Highway 40 in Robert when a drunk driver coming from the opposite direction veered into oncoming traffic and hit Bruce head-on. The driver of the other vehicle did flee the scene, but thanks to a few kind strangers, Bruce has made it out alive and the bastard got caught. He was airlifted to North Oaks Hospital, where he suffered a total below-the-knee amputation to his left leg. His femur and knee are also both shattered on the left side requiring at least 2 more surgeries.
The driver of the vehicle that almost took my child's father was also uninsured.
Bruce and I have been working so hard to rebuild our lives for our kids, but this will result in the indefinite loss of his income and the loss of our independent housing situation. Any help is graciously appreciated, more than anything I hope to see this evil person get what he deserves in court.
My family has a long road ahead of us, so I'm asking for help.
