Support Bruce's Long Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Hi everyone! My name is Jennifer Earl. I am creating this fundraiser for my husband Bruce and my family. Honestly, I have dragged my feet on starting a donation platform. Maybe because it would make it all too real. Maybe I wanted to believe things would be different, and a miracle would happen. Maybe I didn’t want everyone to know how bad things have become. However, as his partner in life, I can no longer deny the inevitable. Everything has changed for him and our family.

I pray that those that have been touched by Bruce either personally or professionally, or have a soft spot in their hearts for Brucey and/or me, will be willing to donate. No donation is too small; every little bit will help due to his loss of income and medical bills that are stacking up. His full recovery time has been discussed to be 1-2 years. That is a drastic change to our world. Your help would be absolutely appreciated!

Bruce has been hospitalized since August 22, 2025. He is still currently hospitalized and there is no timeline of when he will be discharged. However, when he is able to leave Baystate Medical Center, he will need to go to a skilled nursing facility for many months to recover and get stronger. Then, Bruce will need to come home with visiting nurses, physical therapists, medical equipment, and medical supplies. Bruce will not be able to work again for several years, if ever, and I will be his caregiver going forward upon his return home. All donations will help with Bruce’s loss of income. It will allow our family to not struggle and be able to focus on his care and things that he will need.

On August 17, 2025, my husband was stung by Yellowjackets. He ended up going into anaphylactic shock. He stopped breathing and his heart stopped. Due to quick thinking and the amazing medical responders in Wilbraham, Bruce was saved. He almost lost his life that day. We felt blessed that after a few days' stay in the hospital, he was able to be discharged home. Unfortunately, Bruce ended up going back to the hospital several days later. He was bleeding internally. His pancreas had hemorrhaged from when he went into anaphylactic shock. Bruce had to have emergency surgery and spent several weeks in the ICU. He had 5 surgeries and countless tests and procedures, including multiple blood transfusions. Bruce continued to progress over the next month. He was beginning to ambulate with a walker and rehab facilities were being discussed. On September 21st, our world was rocked again. Bruce was vomiting bile, and it was determined that he was bleeding internally again. He was septic and that evening had a temperature of 104.7. His blood pressure was dangerously low and his heart rate was dangerously high. His medical team worked on him for 6 hours until they got him stable, but still critical. Bruce ended up in the ICU for the second time. Currently, he is on the intermediate care floor. He has had blood clots in his arm and leg and recently had two stent procedures. It has been told that the pancreas is an angry organ, and it has utterly caused havoc on his body. On November 10th, it was the first time that Bruce got up and was able to take a few steps to a recliner chair after the last backslide to the ICU. He has also been able to keep food down, which previously had been extremely difficult day after day. Over the last couple of days, there has been progress. It is absolutely wonderful, but this journey is long! It has to be taken day by day as so many things change from moment to moment. Thank you very much for reading this and thank you to those willing to donate and/or share this fundraiser. Both Bruce and I will be forever grateful!
