My sweet Bruce Wayne and I need some help. Bruce was diagnosed with a lung tumor August 9th, just 5 days after losing Marley Mae, our golden girl he’s been with since the day I brought him home. Bruce had a lung lobectomy to rid his body of the tumor. The tumor report came back as pulmonary carcinoma. The tumor appeared to be the only tumor present on his CT scan. Now, 5 weeks later, Bruce has developed a pneumothorax. The surgeon said it’s unlikely a surgical complication and more likely a bleb, nodule, or bullae that can hopefully be repaired. Right now, we are trying to see if the pneumothorax heals on its own. Each day that he is at the vet is costing me over $1,000. My biggest fear is having to let Bruce go over something that can be fixed that I can’t afford to get for him. I only plan on doing treatment that gives him a good quality of life. I never in my life have asked for anything from anyone, but now I’m asking for Bruce. He has so much life left in him, and if he shows me that he wants to fight and is strong and healthy enough to do so, I want to fight for him. I want to give him the best chance. Update: Bruce has been at the vet since Wednesday and is showing improvement. As of right now, we are letting him continue to heal on his own, so plans for a CT are pushed back until necessary. The nurses at LVCC are keeping me updated and sending me pictures of my boy. I haven’t seen him in a couple of days because when I do see him, he gets very upset when I leave, and we are trying to keep him and his little lungs as calm as possible. Dr. Dusty removed his chest tube Sunday morning because it seems as though Bruce is no longer needing it to pull air off of his lungs. We aren’t quite out of the woods yet, but things are headed in the right direction!
