This is the story of my amazing brother-in-law, Bruce. He is the most giving person that I know besides my sister, Shelia. Bruce works very hard to provide for his family and would do anything for anyone. Please give whatever you can to help.

On January 14, 2025, Bruce started feeling like he was coming down with something, which ended up being Flu A. Over the next 10 days, he felt worse and worse (the chills and sweats from fever were brutal) until he ended up in the ER on January 31, 2025, with pneumonia and fluid on his right lung, but his blood work was good enough to send him home to heal with several medications. Two days later, he was so much worse that we went back to the ER, and he was throwing up and so weak he could barely walk into the hospital. This time, he was diagnosed with sepsis, and they found several abscesses on his liver. He was admitted to the hospital and given the strongest IV antibiotics for long-term care that would ultimately save his life. He was literally hours away from death at this point if we had not gone back to the ER for help. Over the next 13 days in the hospital, they also found that his appendix was inflamed (appendectomy was performed the same day); they removed 1300+cc of fluid from his right lung, he was put on oxygen, they drained fluid from the abscesses on his liver, and he had drains inserted in the abscesses for 10 days. Once the appendix was removed, his high fever was finally gone after 21 days. At that point, his hemoglobin was low enough that they decided to do a blood transfusion. It took a few more days to see his numbers improve on his bloodwork. Then a PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) line was inserted to use for the 6-8 weeks of IV antibiotics at home that I will need to change every 24 hours.

As fate would have it, Bruce lost his health insurance in October 2024 and was looking into a new health insurance policy for 2025. He has not been home for a full week yet, and we are getting bills for the medical care he received, and they are already $130,000.00+. We both work full-time and make enough to pay our monthly bills but not much more. The antibiotics we are administering at home cost $460.00 every 6 days for at least 6 weeks ($2,760.00). We have cut down in so many ways while he was in the hospital to try to save money to pay these bills.

We are so thankful for the medical staff who were instrumental in his recovery. They went out of their way to make sure we both had everything we needed during such a stressful and scary time in our life. Thanks to them, we are planning a future and not a funeral.

We are also blessed to have so many friends and family who visited while he was in the hospital, sent meals, and prayed for us. Having a support system makes all the difference when you are healing.

All donations are so appreciated to relieve some of the stress while we continue to heal and move forward. Every dollar will help pay for the ongoing medical treatment and bills accrued from his hospital stay.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
God is good! All the time!
