Update 8/23/24: Bruce rang the bell today at MD Anderson in Houston following his final treatment. He is headed home to his family today! Hallelujah!

Here is a sweet note from Tracy: "Words can't express how grateful and blessed we are to have the family and friends we have that have surrounded us with love and support beyond measure.

I'm so proud of Bruce! It's been so hard not being in Houston with him, but I felt completely at peace with Greg taking my place. I truly think he was a better wife and companion than even I could be!! Thankful for Kandee and Rick stepping in also!! Thank you, Barbara, for lending Greg for 2 months, I know that was a sacrifice and I appreciate you! Mike, thank you for letting him stay with you, for your support and hospitality. Chris, thank you for your patience with my schedule at work and for supporting us with prayer and daily encouragement. We have some more road to go but know that God is good, and our blessings are plenty. And to Kim, Kari and Candace, you are the most precious friends. Stepping in and taking care of me and the kids has been a lifesaver. No words can express my gratitude! Love you three dearly.

You all had a part in this journey so thank you again for loving us, we will never be the same! Love you all! "

From Kim, Kari, and Candace: A special thank you to each of you that have helped this family financially and with meals and supplies. You've lightened their burden and blessed them more than you can imagine. With that said, we have another month or so to go before Bruce is fully back on his feet. Please share this story with others and help us raise additional funds to continue supporting this family. Together we can help Bruce, Tracy, and their family finish this journey and move on to brighter days! God bless you all!

Update 8/8/24 from Bruce: "First of all, I am beyond grateful for the love, prayers, kindness and generosity sent our way.

I am battling hard to try and take in enough calories and protein while dealing with nausea and fatigue brought on by the chemo treatments. It is hard to eat and swallow because of the sores in my mouth and burning in my throat from the radiation. I am trying a new mouthwash today that is supposed to help.

I feel positive we will be able to put this behind us in the next 4 to 5 weeks. This is truly a life-changing experience that I will use to be better all the way around and help others."

Update from Kim, Candace and Kari 8/8/24: Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to those of you have donated to this precious family and helped share their story. Every penny is going directly to provide for Bruce, Tracy, Nevaeh, Legend, and Evie.

Their need is great and as Bruce said, they have another 4 to 5 weeks ahead of them to complete treatments and hopefully, for Bruce's healing and recovery.

We need to double what we've raised so far to ensure this family has what they need to get by for another month or more. Please share their story with everyone!

Dear friends, family and all who know and love the Winters family,

My name is Kim Church and along with Candace Owens and Kari Henry, we are asking you to join us as we support Bruce and Tracy Winters through a difficult season. Bruce was recently diagnosed with Oropharyngeal Cancer (Stage 3 Squamous Cell Carcinoma). He is currently in Houston at MD Anderson undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments. He is no longer able to travel back and forth on his own and is expected to remain in Houston through the end of August. While he does the difficult work of battling cancer in Houston, Tracy is managing everything at home including working full time and raising their three grandchildren ages 10, 6 and 1.

If you know Bruce and Tracy, you are likely surprised they agreed to let us start a GoFundMe campaign for them. They are humble people of integrity and deep faith, and the least likely to ever ask for help. Both are hardworking and devoted to their family. Their sacrifices over the past few years have been plentiful and Bruce’s diagnosis has hit them hard.

We come to you today to ask for your help with their basic living expenses. Bruce is unable to continue in his sales position, which has had a major impact on their income. Tracy has missed work periodically over the last few months due to the loss of her mother and to take care of Bruce and the kids, which has also negatively impacted their financial situation. There have been significant and unexpected out-of-pocket medical expenses associated with Bruce’s care as well as his travel back and forth to Houston the entire month of July. We are asking for your help to pay their rent, utilities, insurance, daycare/after school care, and necessities for the children, two of which start school this month, as well as out of pocket medical expenses.

Some of you reading this have already generously helped support the family the past two months with meals, restaurant gift cards, groceries, diapers, home repairs, and much-needed cash. Each and every dollar or item has been put to use to care for this family. We are keeping a list of all donations so Bruce and Tracy can thank each of you personally. It has become necessary now though to raise a more significant amount of money to meet the basic needs of this family moving forward.

Thank you for your prayerful and thoughtful consideration of our request. Please know that every dollar is appreciated and will be a blessing to the Winters family.

“I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18
