Support Bruce Kramer's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
On the night of December 2, our dad Bruce Kramer was on his way home late in the evening, and was in a single vehicle car accident on icy snow drifted roads. A snow drift caused him to fishtail and spin out, and eventually roll his pickup truck throwing him from the vehicle through the drivers side window. He woke up in the snow disoriented and spent the next 30 or 40 minutes struggling to reach his truck to attempt to find his phone, which was thrown from the vehicle. Miraculously, his iPhone (we will be Apple fans for life) had sensed the collision and sent an emergency SOS alert to both Cindy and emergency services. Cindy got the alert and tracked Bruce's location and found him in the snow, with the ambulance arriving just minutes later. We feel certain that his iPhone saved his life because there is no way to know how long he could have been in the snow without anyone knowing but for the alert.

Bruce was stabilized and taken by ambulance to Salida hospital, where they quickly diagnosed multiple severe breaks and decided to flight for life him to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs.

Bruce has multiple breaks in his pelvis, 6 broken ribs, a small bleed in his kidney, right hip dislocation and fractures, cracks in his left hip capsule, fractures in his sacrum, 3 spine fractures and a break in his right scapula. BUT - his spinal cord is in tact and he is moving his feet, and doctors are pleased with that.

Bruce was woozy throughout the night, but was still able to surface long enough to ask who won the Bronco game. By today he is periodically awake enough to recognize and be very appreciative for family (and meds).

At this point in time, it seems like the doctors' primary concerns are his right hip, which will probably require pins and plates and will likely have surgery in the next day or two. With that said, we are still waiting for results on scans and other more detailed tests.

We have had a lot of friends and family reach out and ask how they can help. We are overwhelmed with the outpouring of support and so grateful. First and foremost, we would just ask for prayers around Bruce's recovery and that he gets the best possible care from his medical team. If you want to help with financial assistance, we've set up a GoFundMe page to help with all of the unexpected expenses involved with this crisis - including extended hospital stays, long term rehab, and other unexpected medical expenses. We are humbled and grateful for such a wonderful community of friends and family looking out for our dad and helping in all different ways.
