Hello, my name is Tracy Francis.
I am looking for help to support my brother in his cancer fight.
On March 31, 2025, Bruce Alan Francis underwent a medical procedure after struggling to swallow. What doctors discovered was devastating: a large, aggressive mass in his esophagus. Just days later, on April 2, Bruce received an official diagnosis—Stage 4 Esophageal Adenocarcinoma.
Initially, Bruce was placed on palliative care, as the cancer seemed inoperable. But Bruce and our family were determined to seek every possible option. We found hope at Michigan Medicine, where Dr. Ready gave us the news we’d been praying for: surgery was possible, and Bruce’s treatment plan shifted from only comfort care to a chance at a cure.
Bruce’s cancer involves the lower third of his esophagus, the critical junction where it connects to the stomach, and the upper portion of his stomach. With two devoted medical teams, he courageously completed six rounds of chemotherapy and 21 days of daily radiation. Now, Bruce is preparing for an extensive esophagectomy surgery scheduled for August 8, 2025.
The journey, however, is far from over. Bruce will remain in the hospital for one to two weeks following surgery. Recovery will keep him out of work for at least six to eight weeks. During healing, he will rely on a feeding tube while his esophagus is reconstructed.
This road is long, exhausting, and financially overwhelming. We’re raising funds to help cover Bruce’s medical expenses, ongoing care, and daily living costs during his recovery. Any amount, big or small, will help give Bruce the chance to reclaim his life and future.
Please consider donating and sharing Bruce’s story. Bruce is not only my brother but my best friend. My parents and I are doing our best to be supportive in what we can. Together, we can offer him hope and support in his fight against cancer.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
The Francis Family
Bruce, Cheryll, and Tracy
