On January 19th, our dog Brownie suddenly had a seizure. We brought him to the vet and were told he seemed stable and to take him home, with instructions to call if anything changed. Just a few hours later around 2am Brownie had three more seizures. He became extremely unstable, couldn’t walk properly, and his eyes were rapidly moving back and forth. We immediately rushed him to an emergency veterinary hospital.
Brownie was treated for the seizures and kept overnight for close monitoring. The following morning, he was transferred to a specialty hospital an hour away so he could be seen by a neurologist. After an MRI, we discovered that Brownie had suffered a hemorrhagic stroke, with bleeding in three different areas of his brain.
Since then, Brownie has been recovering steadily, but he still has a long road ahead. He will need ongoing care, including an upcoming cardiology appointment to help determine the underlying cause of the stroke so we can prevent this from happening again.
Brownie is truly a part of our family, and he is an emotional support dog for my dad, a combat veteran living with PTSD. We rescued him in Los Angeles after he was found roaming the streets alone. Despite everything he’s been through, the vets believe he’s only around 8 years old. He has so much life left to live.
I’m creating this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden on my parents so Brownie can continue receiving the care he needs. Any support whether through donations or sharing means more than we can express and will help give Brownie the happy, healthy future he deserves
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for caring about Brownie.
