My name is Claudia and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for my sweet 1-year-old whippet, Brooks.

Brooks is more than just a dog — he’s my best friend, a constant source of joy, and a loving soul with the gentlest heart. Anyone who’s met him knows he’s full of energy, affection, and the classic goofy whippet charm.

Recently, in a heartbreaking accident, Brooks collided with his housemate during playtime. It was a moment that changed everything. What seemed like a harmless zoomie session turned into a life-altering injury — Brooks suffered trauma to his spinal cord and lost the ability to walk properly.

Seeing him in pain, confused, and unable to move like he used to, has been devastating. We took him to the vet, and after exams and radiographs, we learned that he will need extensive treatment, possibly including surgery, physical therapy, and ongoing care to give him the best chance at recovery.

Unfortunately, these medical bills are far beyond what I can manage alone. The costs are already piling up — diagnostic imaging, medication, and potential surgery — and the journey ahead is uncertain but hopeful.

That’s why I’m turning to this amazing community.
