Brooks and Janet are two of the strongest, most loving and hard working people I know. They are the parents of two adopted kids on the autism spectrum, one of whom is non-verbal, and have worked in special education for many years. Our son Oscar met them at Camp Ramapo 17 years ago.
Without any warning, and enormous tree branch dropped 30 feet onto Brooks while she was mowing the lawn 2 weeks ago. She was hospitalized with a severe concussion and had to have many stitches and staples.
Brooks is out of the hospital now and at home, but can’t leave her bed for about a month while her brain heals. As you can imagine things are tight.
The whole family needs respite. There is a spot for their older teenage son at Camp Ramapo where he has been many times before. Despite a generous scholarship, Brooks and Janet will still have to come up with another $1,950 for him to attend the camp by June 22nd.
Any contribution you can manage will be helping a very good cause.
