I began working in healthcare at 18 I poured my heart into caring for others, especially during the darkest days of COVID. I was the one bringing comfort, smiles, and calm in the middle of chaos. I never imagined I’d be on the other side so soon.
In 2022, while working on a COVID unit, my life changed forever. I was hospitalized with a heart rate in the 190s, blood pressure over 200/120, and dangerously high troponin levels. I kept pushing through, but my health kept declining.
Now, at 27, I’m living with:
Congenital heart disease (born without a valve)
COVID-induced POTS and orthostatic hypotension
Frequent fainting & serious spinal/cervical injuries from falls
Abnormal blood flow in my vertebral artery
TMJ syndrome
Anxiety, OCD, depression & PTSD
Panic attacks & mobility issues requiring a walker and wheelchair
I went from long hospital shifts to needing home health care and physical therapy just to get through the day. My doctors say I can no longer work. I filed for disability over 2 years ago and I’m still waiting.
To make things worse, a tree fell on my house. The ceiling collapsed, leaks spread mold throughout, and it’s making my health even worse. I’m struggling to afford medical care, equipment, medications, food, and utilities.
Your support will go directly toward:
Medical bills, procedures & medications
Food & utilities
Urgent home repairs to create a safe space
Medical equipment & daily living needs
I’ve always been independent, but I truly need help. Every donation no matter the size makes a real difference. And if you can’t give, simply sharing my story means the world to me.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me keep going — even on the hardest days.
❤️ Brookey
