My family was involved in a devastating ATV accident. We lost my grandmother, and both of my little girls were badly hurt. My little cousin was also part of the wreck and is okay overall, with bruises and scrapes. My oldest is in the ICU with skull fractures and brain bleeds, and my youngest has a broken elbow. I’m trying to be there for my children while also carrying the shock and heartbreak of losing my grandmother.

Right now, our days are filled with constant back-and-forth travel. The hospital is an hour away from home, and we are making repeated trips while switching off who stays with one child and who goes home with the other. We are not sleeping much, and even simple things like going home to let the dog out have become part of an exhausting routine.

I’m off work right now so I can stay with my daughter, and I do not think I will be getting paid during this time. I really do not like asking for help, but with travel to and from the hospital, eating out while we are there, bills coming due, and other day-to-day expenses, we need help getting through the next couple of weeks until we can get everything situated.
