Support Brookelynn in her Rare Disease Journey

Donation protected
** I was asked by a friend to create this to give Brookelynns village a chance to bless her and her family.**

My name is Kortney and I am a single mother of two. The past couple years have been really hard on myself and my kids. With my medical issues, doing it all alone, and other unfortunate life events. But after a VERY VERY long wait to see a REAL Rheumatologist we finally saw him, and our appointment was 4 hours long unpacking the history of Brookelynn, my 11 year old daughter. One positive, was that she didn't have Lupus. But she is now known as "unicorn", a "zebra with polka dots" to this Rheumatologist. My mama heart is broken. As of right now Brookelynn has three rare conditions. One of them is so rare that as of 2024 only 100 cases were diagnosed. This condition is called Muckle Wells Syndrome. The other is a Periodic Fever Syndrome, Familial Mediterranean Fever. We also found out that she has a condition in her foot, Freibergs Infraction. She recently started an injection of antibodies that she will need either weekly, biweekly or monthly. These injections cost $19.000 each. Thankfully as of right now I do not have a cost for those but will once insurance gets involved. With these conditions, Brooke has good and bad days. One day she will be fine, the next she could have her whole body in fight mode for no reason with 106 fever, random stomach pains that will land her in he hospital, back pain so severe she screams in pain, joint pain daily, headaches, skin reactions, playing sports has been her favorite thing and as of right now it's not something she can do because the foot condition can cause pain with walking. Getting to the bottom of her medical issues has taken 11 years as this started when she was a baby. Muckle Wells is not curable, its something she will deal with for the rest of her life and it can cause hearing loss which is devastating. As much as I am thankful to finally have answers, I'm scared.

I am employed with a full time job, as well as 2 part time jobs and work as much as possible to take care of her medications, medical appts, bills, my pets, etc. Although I am working these jobs I'm also missing a lot of work for all of her specialist visits, unpaid. Which has put me in a place of almost losing my job. She does have insurance but the coverage is limited. The constant labs, office visits, tests, medications, etc have me drowning as a single mom.

Many people have been asking how they can help. With this being one option, donations of any amount will go toward things like:
* Medications
* Possible travel for Specialists out of state
* Support for her brother and household while I'm back and forth between appts.
* Lost income and unexpected medical expenses

Giving is of course entirely optional and we would be so appreciative. If you’re not able to donate, I kindly ask for prayers. Your prayers truly mean as much as any financial gift.

Your prayers, generosity, and compassion are a blessing to Brookelynn, Kaedyn and I. Thank you for showing up for Brooke in whatever way you can.

With love always,
Kortney
