This is Bronwyn, a 21-year-old girl who has been struggling with serious health conditions since the age of 4. It all began with scarlet fever, a broken collarbone and several heavy nosebleeds. When she turned 6, the seizures began. Starting off, the seizures were once a month, now, they occur 2-4 times a week.
Get to know Bronwyn beyond her illness: She has an enormous heart, is kind, thoughtful, loving and forgiving, even despite all the pain and setbacks she’s faced. She is incredibly strong, brave, and determined and does not let her health struggles deter her from pursuing her online post-secondary education when able. No matter what she’s facing, she remains positive. She’ll even casually explain the numerous ways she’s put her own shoulder back in after it was dislocated.
Over the years, the seizures became so violent that she broke both shoulders, sustained a broken foot, had multiple concussions, memory loss, brain fog, joint pain, multiple surgeries, frequent bruises and scrapes, along with numerous other symptoms. As a result of the repeated injuries, she’s also lost significant mobility in her shoulders, something that she struggles with daily, and often hinders her ability to do the things she loves, including fitness and highland dancing.
In 2023, Bronwyn was bedridden for an entire year. For the past five months, she has been housebound. She is unable to work, she cannot drive, and she often cannot be alone safely. The freedom and independence we all take for granted is something Bronwyn has never known.
After years of unanswered questions, along with trying every reasonable option available, her seizures still remain a constant force in her daily life.
Finally, through conversations with others in similar circumstances, Bronwyn's mother learned about a stem cell treatment center in India that helped a family friend regain control of her life and health. After careful research and discussion, Bronwyn and her mother have decided to take this next step.
The cost of this next step is steep. While Bronwyn and her family have done all they can to prepare, the total cost is more than they can reasonably manage on their own. She has never been one to ask others for help, but this opportunity is a chance for Bronwyn to see the life-changing possibilities that come from allowing others to stand with her and support her on this health journey.
Since 2019, her health has really deteriorated, with only a few brief episodes of remission. This next line of treatment might be the chance to gain her mobility back that would allow her to build a future not centred around her health condition. A future not based around just surviving every day, but one with independence and the opportunity to live like the average young adult.
Your donations and your prayers are what can make this possible for her. Although they cannot achieve this treatment on their own, we as a collective have the opportunity to help. Whether you are financially able to assist or not, please continue to share her story. Thank you for taking the time to read her story and for any kindness and support you can offer, as she hopes to begin this journey to a better future.
