Broken Clock Productions is an independent film production company founded by University of Wisconsin - Madison students Arthur Nelson and Christiaan Hajós. After completing our production capstone course as sophomores, we realized we didn’t want to wait until graduation to start telling the stories we care about. So, with the time we have left at UW - Madison, we decided to build something of our own: a small production company dedicated to creating original films from start to finish.

Our first project is Comfortably Numb, a short film about the overwhelming amount of negativity we encounter every day, and what happens when we finally decide to look up from our screens.

The film follows Sam, a college student who, while hanging out with their friends one night, begins seeing strange manifestations that no one else can see. These figures turn out to be extra-dimensional entities that feed off of human misery. They follow everyone on Earth, whispering an endless stream of bad news, financial anxiety, social comparison, environmental catastrophe, violence, and other fears that have become almost impossible to escape in modern life.

Inspired by films like "They Live" and "Sorry to Bother You", Comfortably Numb is ultimately a film about disconnection - and the possibility of reconnecting. It's about how easily we can become consumed by the problems of the world when they're delivered to us 24/7, and how important it can be to put the phone down, look around, and remember that we're actually living in the world we're so afraid of losing.

We're making this film entirely independently, with a student crew and a very limited budget. Every contribution will go directly toward bringing the film to life, including equipment, locations, props, costumes, production design, transportation, food for our cast and crew, post-production, festival submissions, and other expenses that come with producing an independent short film.
