We're going home!!! 1/24/25
Brody is being discharged!!@ 10!!!
PLEASE READ!!!!!!
His insurance is only covering about 80% which will leave Stacy and I with 10s of thousands in medical bills, we were both already struggling financially to survive, and are both out of work until who knows when, all donations will go directly to medical bills, as well as trying to survive during this trying time, and anything else he may need.
We're in Helen Devos until at least this weekend, and then Mary Free Bed for another at least week or two.
we've been here for 9 days already

please share to spread the awareness!!!
I apologize how sad this picture is but I want to make this so all parents are aware what can happen from your kid wearing headphones/air pods or ear buds 24/7 that us parents might not think of it as a concern I know we didn’t!!!!
For you that might not know...this is my son Brody he’s 14! He got a bad ear infection late last week (diagnosed 12/18) from wearing his air pods all the time! That infection made him so sick over a weekend that we thought it was just due to the ear infection nothing else…. He was brought to urgent care by his mom on Christmas Eve because he wasn’t getting better, only worse….then brought by ambulance to trinity in muskegon, who did a lunbar puncture, they were leaning towards meningitis, but we had to wait 36 hours to know for sure, they then transferred him by ambulance again to Devos Children’s hospital when he was diagnosed with Meningitis, when we got to Helen devos, and they began treating for the meningitis, after a few days of going unresponsive, and wasn't improving they then did another MRI, and another lumbar puncture, as well as a brain activity scan, which was very slow activity. Along with swelling in his brain, and spinal column.
After a few days, and tests he was then also diagnosed with A.D.E.M (Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis is a rare autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in the brain and spinal cord. It's also known as postinfectious encephalomyelitis)
we weren't sure what was going to happen, until they discovered the A.D.E.M, and started treatment for that

Brody is recovering with help of physical therapy and will soon be transferred to Mary Free Bed inpatient rehabilitation because he has lost function to his body that he can barely move on his own or stay awake for more then a few minutes they are saying he will have a full recovery but not as fast as we all want him to

We all had no idea what was wrong with him till taking him in…. PLEASE PLEASE take those headphones out of your kiddos ears but this is a feeling no parent should ever go through!!!! You never wanna see your baby in a hospital bed!!

We are one big family and sticking together for our son! This will be a long road for Brody so please keep him in your prayers!
We are at a loss for words at the outpouring amount of love, and help from family and friends
It takes a village.

Things happen quicker then you know and before you know it, you could be in our shoes, and I promise you... you don’t want to be in our shoes!!

"I love you Brody! Your strong and you will be up moving around and cracking jokes with me soon enough! ♥️" -Aubree

We have had a few people reach out on asking if there is anything they can do to help!I the biggest thing is we are both taking time off work and Brody will be at devos until at least this weekend, then being transferred to Mary free bed for at least another week, or two.
We have been living off hospital food and the worry of gas back and forth!! When we can find time, or make time to run back home to get clothes, or see our other kiddos impatiently waiting, and worrying about their big brother.
We spent Christmas Eve, Christmas, and new years eve in the hospital, and the little ones aren't quite as understanding, so it's taking a toll on them as well.
Anything helps and we greatly appreciate everyone so much!

I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy! This has been the most horrifying experience as a parent, please share, to make parents aware
