Hi, our names are Matthew & Janet Myers, and our goal is to help raise funds for our dear friends, Amanda & Jon Petersen, after an unexpected devastating fire accident left their oldest son, Brock, with severe burns. Specifically, on Saturday, June 27, 2026, while on vacation in Oceanside, they were standing around a tabletop firepit, it exploded when lit, setting Brock on fire and causing full depth second-degree burns on his arms and neck as well as burns to his face. Jon, Brock’s Dad, also ended up having second degree burns on his hands from trying to put out the fire. In addition, Brock’s Mom, Amanda; little sister, Molly (age 6); and his little brother, Dean (age 4), witnessed the entire horrific accident. Brock was airlifted to the hospital, spent 10 days in the Burn ICU, received skin graft surgery on both biceps and on his neck, and he is currently on the 8th day of stay in the burn special care unit recovering from the skin graft surgery. Brock is such a kind and thoughtful 8 year old boy. He loves playing baseball, playing classic video games with his Dad, building legos, and he loves dinosaurs. Despite the pain and trauma, Brock has shown incredible bravery, keeping a positive attitude, and trying to smile through it all. While this situation feels deeply unfair, Brock's story is a powerful testimony to his family's deep Christian faith and their love for Jesus. Donations to this fundraiser will go directly to the Petersen family to help in covering Brock's medical expenses, post-skin graft treatments, possible plastic surgery (if necessary), physical therapy and occupational therapy, a year of vitamin and nutrient supplements, specific dietary needs (high protein/organic quality foods), hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments to optimize Brock’s healing,and grief counseling for the entire family.
