Support Broadway Cuisine's Recovery from Arson
Donation protected
A beloved part of the Chinatown community, Broadway Cuisine, suffered a devastating fire in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Authorities are actively investigating the incident, which appears to be an act of arson. Preliminary reports suggest a suspect carrying a gas can was in the area before two fires broke out—one in an abandoned building next to Yang Chow and another at the back of Broadway Cuisine.
The fire spread rapidly, severely damaging Broadway Cuisine and forcing it to shut its doors. This tragedy is not just about lost property—it’s about the livelihoods of hardworking employees, the dreams of a dedicated business owner, and the heart of a restaurant that has served the community with passion and care.
Now, Broadway Cuisine faces the difficult task of rebuilding and they need our help.
In reviewing the damage and speaking with LADBS and some contractors, they will need to replace electrical, new compressor, new hot water heater, new fan for their hoods, new back doors, a new enclosure to house all of this equipment. I will be coordinating an helping project manage the process, in working with LADBS, the LA County Health Dept and the City of LA.
The road to recovery will hopefully not be too long, but with community support, we can help them restore what was lost. Every donation—no matter the size—goes directly toward covering repair costs, supporting displaced employees, and ensuring that Broadway Cuisine can continue serving the community.
100% of the donations will go directly to Broadway Cuisine, which is a partnership of the Yu and Wong families.
