Support Britt's Battle Against Cancer

Donation protected
This is very difficult for me to put into words, but I am going to do my best. As many of you know, three years ago my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 36. She underwent a mastectomy, completed chemo and was taking a preventative cancer med. All of that was supposed to have been the end of the fight.

Several months ago Britt began experiencing back pain, and like any normal person would do, she got massages, saw a chiropractor, and even went to physical therapy. However, an MRI at the beginning of January turned her world upside down as she learned it wasn’t just back pain she was facing, but stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. The cancer had unknowingly spread to her bones, and the pain she had been feeling were fractures in her bones. This news has been extremely devastating for everyone, but especially her two kids and husband. I can’t even begin to tell you how strong my sister is as while she told everyone her back pain was bad, she lived her life as though it wasn’t. Never missed a day of work (stands all day long), kids activity, family get-together, absolutely nothing. It’s very hard to think about how much pain she must have been feeling.

The good news is the cancer appears to be contained to her bones and doesn’t seem to have spread to any organs. The bad news is there is no cure for metastatic breast cancer and this is now something she will fight the rest of her life. She is currently dealing with quite a bit of pain, but her team of doctors is working hard to find a successful pain management regimen. She has already completed 7 rounds of radiation and has 5 left to go. She will have some form of treatment for the rest of her life, but those details are currently unknown. She has another appointment next week to learn more.

We are very hopeful and have faith that her care team will be able to find a way to manage this disease to the point where she still has a lot of quality years. If you know my family at all, this is the ONLY possible option, and we won’t settle for any other outcome. However, we all know that there will be a lot of stress, worry and hard days that come with fighting for that outcome.

There have been SO MANY wonderful people reaching out and asking how they can help. This is so appreciated and it makes a world of difference just knowing how much support she has. Every single message, kind gesture and PRAYER has meant the world to her. That alone is all Britt would ever ask for. However, as a way to direct all of the amazing people who want to help in other ways, we are creating this go fund me page. With the amount of stress and worry that comes with this type of cancer, the most practical gift right now would be to help take away some of the worries about money and medical bills. The most important gift we all have is time with the people we love, and hopefully this will help free her mind of a little stress to focus on more important things.. such as her two beautiful kids, her husband, her friends, and her family. Not only will the medical bills be continual, but there is also potential travel if second, third, or however many opinions are needed to get this managed.

Thank you again to all of the people who have already reached out and thank you in advance to those who want to help my sister’s family! Anything is appreciated and absolutely nothing is expected. And regardless of anything else, please say some big, big prayers. Nobody fights alone.
