Hi, my name is Brittny, and I never imagined I’d be writing something like this.

My fiancé, our two dogs, and I are currently homeless. We lost our housing after trusting a family member who promised us a safe place to stay so we could get back on our feet. We uprooted our lives under the assurance that we would have a stable, livable environment while we saved money. Unfortunately, that promise was not truthful.

When we arrived, the home was uninhabitable—severely affected by hoarding, with empty beer cans, roaches, maggots, and even dead rodents throughout the house. The conditions were unsafe and unsanitary, yet we were expected to clean the entire home while living in it. We had no realistic way to stay there safely.

Since then, we have been couch surfing, moving wherever we can just to avoid sleeping outside. The only semi-stable option available to us right now is a distant relative’s home, but it is also unsafe—contaminated with rat droppings, mold, and years of animal urine and feces buildup. Despite our best efforts of cleaning it and making it livable, we both wound up needing to visit the ER after four days of cleaning and spending one night in that home due to inhaling mold and other filth.

Currently we are staying in a motel 6, the cheapest solution that is still costing us far to much money. We will not be able to save for a home if things keep up like this - or even continue to afford this room.

We are asking for help to raise $5,000, which would allow us to put a down payment on a trailer—a small but safe and stable home where we can finally breathe, rebuild, and regain independence. Having a secure place to live would let us stop bouncing from place to place and focus on working, saving, and moving forward.

This is not easy to ask. We are doing everything we can, but we cannot get out of this situation without help. Any donation—no matter the amount—brings us closer to safety and stability. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser means more than you know.
