Support Brittney's Battle with Multiple Sclerosis
Donation protected
As many of you know, on September 1, 2023, Brittney was diagnosed with Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis, which is a chronic, progressive, unpredictable, and uncurable disease of the central nervous system. Brittney’s specific MS lesions have affected her cognitive ability in ways that impact her memory and induce brain fog and confusion, making it diffcult to work at times. The disease has physically impacted her body by damaging her nerves, creating pain and numbness throughout her body, causing weakness, and impacting her mobility. Due to the MS, which was a diagnosis she never saw coming, Brittney experiences insomnia, issues with her vision which impacts her ability to drive at times, and is, expectedly, processing the grief of the sudden onset of the disease that is always evolving and constantly producing new challenges to which Brittney has no option but to try to adapt.
Recently, the disease progressed in a way that made it impossible for Brittney to swallow simple food. In fact, she has not eaten solid food since April 2024 leaving her with an additionally diagnosis of Dysphagia. To top it off, Brittney is allergic to the medication that helps relieve some of the pain associated with the disease.
Brittney is one of the strongest people I have ever known. Not only is she a stellar mother who loves Mar more than anything else in the world and strives to give her daughter everything she needs and deserves as a young, enthusiastic, and energetic teen, but Brittney is a fierce fighter of MS. On top of still holding an intense job, Brittney is juggling physical therapy, speech therapy, and appointments with her neurologist, dietician, PCP, and chronic illness specialist, and doing it with that contagious optimism we all know and love.
As you can imagine, a disease that impacts life to such a degree produces constant stress, sometimes fear, and a never -ending supply of medical expenses that are not covered by insurance. Despite all the challenges, Brittney continues to be an incredible friend, daughter, sister, mother, granddaughter, coach, and coworker. She lights up the worlds of so many people, daily, so please join me in alleviating the stress and financial burden that comes with such a difficult, life-long diagnosis and instead, help me fill that space with hope for Brittney and Mar.
