Support Brittney Cork's Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
My niece, Brittney Cork, was recently diagnosed with cancer. She has Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a type of blood cancer that affects the lymphatic system. She just turned 29 years old and has an 8-year-old daughter. She is currently in intensive care due to complications before starting chemo (read more below.) She is a sweet, strong, hardworking, single mom. These are extraordinary circumstances. Your help as she bears this burden, especially the financial burden, is appreciated.
After diagnosis, Brittney had extensive dental work and a port placed to prepare for chemotherapy. Her dad (my brother) took her to the emergency room on October 25th because of difficulty breathing, chest pain, and low oxygen. She had an urgent life-threatening condition called cardiac tamponade. She was taken by ambulance to the main UMC hospital in Lubbock, TX. The vascular surgeon almost got a ticket getting there fast enough. It was very scary. She had developed pericardial effusion (infection around her heart). Brittney had a procedure to drain the infection and has been in the cardiac intensive care since Saturday. With 20 chest staples, IV antibiotics, oxygen, and rest, she is improving. She just moved today to regular intensive care while she continues to fight the infection. She will start chemotherapy in the next few weeks.
Our family is supporting Brittney, her daughter Calli, and her two rescue dogs while she is in the hospital and in the days ahead. We are looking to our village for additional financial support for her.
We appreciate any support and prayers for Brittney. Thank you all in advance.
