Hi, I'm Brittany though some of you might know me as Bee.
I was diagnosed in Feb 2026 with a cyst in the tail my pancreas - currently doctors are unsure of what exact kind it is.
Currently, it's suspected of being MCN (Mucinous Cystic Neoplasm) though it may be IPMN (Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasm). Doctors won't officially know until it's removed. It has to be removed. Although they've been able to determine it was not malignant as of May, it has a high likelihood of becoming malignant (or cancer, in other terms). My family history is plagued with cancer. The behavior of the cyst is the primary reason it's being removed. The cyst grew from 2.7cm in Feb to 5cm by May. The symptoms I've had from it are only additional reasons for concern of the cyst long term - spreading abdominal pain in the front and back, nausea, vomiting, digestive issues, etc.
Edit: 6/29/2026. Surgery rescheduled to 7/8/2026.
I am scheduled for surgery on Friday, 6/26/2026. The surgery I'm having is distal pancreatectomy with splenectomy - removal of the tail of my pancreas and removal of my entire spleen. It's a major surgery that will require at least 6 weeks recovery time. I will spend likely a week in the hospital following the surgery to monitor my recovery, progress, and watch for complications.
Following the procedure, I will have a longer road ahead as I cope to the difficulties that come with having your spleen removed. The spleen is a major component of your immune system. I've never had a particularly strong immune system and this is just another hurdle for me. My doctors are confident that it will address the majority of my symptoms but potentially not all. There's no way of knowing before the procedure.
I've spent my life doing many things for many people. Those close to me may know me as a caretaker, a fixer, technician, and the list really goes on. For some, you may only know me as a computer technician in Milledgeville, GA, where I've worked for almost 5 years.
I'm making this GoFundMe now for my time in lost wages during my time in recovery. Bills will still need to be paid, groceries (as I'm sure you all know) are at an all time high, and I'm not certain of what my road to recovery will look like financially speaking.
Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated.
