Support Brittany's Journey to Recovery

Over the past several years, Brittany Reyes has suffered various illnesses and symptoms that have caused her great pain and discomfort for such a long time. She had determined it was likely related to her brain/nervous system, but has since been on the long road of finding that root cause with no answers.

On June 1, after a long summer day with friends, Brittany was struck with a thunderclap head pain that led her to the ER. The CT scan showed that she had a large brain mass near her fourth ventricle. She was immediately transferred by ambulance to a high-level hospital where she spent the next several days getting scanned and waiting for results. To add to the anxiety of the whole situation, Brittany had just recently found out she was pregnant with a miracle baby and is now 15 weeks along.

She had an emergency craniotomy on June 6th by Dr. Bogaev to remove to 3cm x 3cm Acoustic Neroma tumor. The surgeon was able to confirm that the tumor was benign and remove it completely, without further radiation treatment. Though the surgeon was incredible and did an amazing job, she did suffer some vision and hearing loss during the procedure due to the location and size of the tumor. The baby was monitored and kept safe during the whole ordeal.

As a result of all this, she will undergo regular neurology visits the rest of her life, as well as therapies for hearing & vision loss. The pending total for her unexpected stay in the hospital is $115,000, although insurance and adjustments have not been made yet. The estimated out of pocket cost is likely $30,000.
