Support Brittany's Fight Against Breast Cancer

 

 

 

 

In October 2021, just after her 33rd birthday, my sister felt a lump in her breast. An expeditious workup led to her diagnosis of Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Breast Cancer. To say that she was distraught is an understatement. Yet, without an idea of what this meant or what was going to happen, she made acceptance her priority. As a young woman, there is a lot to think about when something so overwhelming and life-altering is thrust upon you. A short time later, Brittany found out her diagnosis is triple-negative and that she is positive for the BRCA1 gene.

 

She started chemotherapy in November and is about halfway through. She has battled every emotion possible and keeps her faith in God as a reminder that her life is not defined by what she is going through. She will fight, and she will win.

 

Brittany was raised on Long Island, NY and moved to Boston, MA for her undergraduate career in Music Studies at Northeastern University. She has spent much time enjoying several areas of Boston and calling it her home. She has recently focused more on philanthropic opportunities at a law firm and finds this gratifying work. Until her diagnosis and treatment started, she was also a devoted and highly cherished singer at her church.

 

Brittany is a beloved daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and friend. She has found support in her networks and focuses on her future. Unfortunately, her fight takes time away from work and the ability to support herself. Her medical expenses continue to rise as she faces the rest of her chemotherapy, multiple surgeries and then radiation.
