Help Brittany and Her Family Through Their Most Challenging Chapter

My dear friend Brittany is a 40-year-old mother raising two wonderful children. For 14 years, she served her community as a dedicated police officer—until an unexpected illness changed everything.

After years of relentless testing and appointments with specialists, Brittany was diagnosed with a cavernous malformation on her cerebellum. This discovery led to a series of emergency brain surgeries, including the placement of a permanent VP shunt in her skull.

This past year has brought even greater challenges. Brittany began experiencing alarming symptoms—frequent falls, memory loss, and trouble speaking. Despite 12 scans and countless appointments, doctors determined that a fourth brain surgery was her only option. It took place just this past Monday, July 7th.

During surgery, her medical team was shocked by the extent of scar tissue that had grown into her brain stem, around her cerebellum, and was blocking fluid circulation. Though they successfully removed 80% of the tissue, they discovered a new, devastating complication—a Chiari malformation. This means Brittany’s brain is being pulled downward into her brain stem, spinal cord, and cerebellum.

To relieve pressure, surgeons removed Brittany’s C1 vertebrae and part of her skull, which they chose to leave off permanently.

I’ve witnessed firsthand how deeply this journey has affected Brittany—physically, emotionally, and financially. Navigating all of this while living on disability and Medicare has been overwhelming. And yet, until this most recent health crisis, Brittany continued doing everything she could to support her family—substituting, coaching, cleaning, and hosting coffee events. Her determination, even while in constant pain, is nothing short of extraordinary.

Brittany is the kind of person who gives generously and loves fiercely. She never hesitates to help those in need, yet struggles to ask for help herself. That’s why I’m asking—on her behalf.

Since January, Brittany’s medical scan bills have reached nearly $27,000—and that’s just the beginning. With more costs on the horizon and Brittany now unable to work, I’m starting this fundraiser to help ease the burden on this amazing, deserving family.

Whether it’s a donation, a share, or simply a prayer—everything makes a difference. Please consider supporting Brittany and her kids as they navigate this incredibly difficult road. Your kindness could bring real relief and hope.
